James A. Prather earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Northeast Louisiana University and his Juris Doctorate from Loyola University School of Law in New Orleans, Louisiana. After receiving his Juris Doctorate degree in 1990, James began his career in New Orleans practicing maritime and casualty defense litigation. His practice areas grew to include insurance coverage litigation, workers’ compensation and the defense of the trucking industry. James is admitted to practice before all Louisiana trial and appellate courts, as well as the United States District Court for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of Louisiana, and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit. James is a member of the Maritime Law Association of the United States, the Mariner’s Club of New Orleans, the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel, and past member of the Defense Research Institute. James has devoted his practice to the representation of business and insurance interests in Louisiana. He has been honored by his colleagues in the Bar and members of the Bench with an (“AV”) rating from Martindale-Hubbell, which is the highest rating available to practicing attorneys.
